
| Clubul Ecologic “Transilvania” (CET) was founded in 1992 and is a non-governmental, non-profit organization with the mission of supporting the sustainable development of the Cluj area, including the Somes Valley and the Apuseni Mountains, and the eco-civic education of the population of this region. Most of CET’s recent projects have focused on the promotion of public participation in the decision making process and the free access to environmental information in Romania as well as the promotion of local sustainable development plans. As a regional organization involved with the environmental issues of Cluj-Napoca city (pop. 350,000) and of Cluj area CET has achieved the recognition of the community it works with. Over the past 5 years, CET has worked extensively in rural communities in Romania, especially in the Huedin Micro-region (gateway community to the Apuseni Natural Park).
To achieve all this CET has engaged on a long road of initiating and directing change in an emerging Romanian democracy. CET collaborates with a wide range of institutions and individuals, including pier non-governmental organizations that work towards the same goals. |
