According to CET’s long, medium and short term objectives, the activity of our organization is based on a series of thematic programs which all concur to achieve the overall mission of Clubul Ecologic Transilvania. Most of CET’s recent projects have focused on the promotion of public participation in the decision making process and the free access to environmental information in Romania as well as the promotion of local sustainable development plans. As a regional organization involved with the environmental issues of Cluj-Napoca city and of Cluj area CET has achieved the recognition of the community it works with.
CET develops a series of multi-annual or short-term programs, depending mostly on the organization’s strategic interests and opportunities. The programs that CET developed in 2005 were:
Sustainable Rural Development in Romania – multi-annual program focused on promoting a sustainable approach towards economic and social development which will not lead to irreversible effects on urban and mountainous environmental and natural conditions.
Padis – multi-annual program focused on protecting the Padis karstic area, hart of the Apuseni Natural Park
Ecological Education – multi-annual program focused on ecological education campaigns conducted in formal (schools, kindergartens) and informal settings
Ecoforum – multi-annual program focused on promoting free access to information, especially to environmental information, on promoting and disseminating a model of responsible behavior towards environment and community
Genetically Modified Organisms – program focused on public information, awareness raising and campaigning against GMOs.
Organizational Development and Consolidation – multi-annual program focused on developing and consolidating the resources and activities of our organization and on defining a viable strategy for the future of CET.
Besides these programs CET also implements specific activities determined by the urgency of a situation or by various opportunities that come to meet the interests of our organization. These activities include: participation in conferences, meetings on various environmental subjects, training sessions and fellowship programs, press conferences, public positions, collaboration with other organizations (institutions, authorities, non-profits, companies etc.), consultancy to third parties etc.
